LEGACY SQUARE CAPITAL supported one of the largest in Europe chess tournaments Moscow Open-2017

January 26 - February 6, 2017, the largest in Europe International Chess Cup «Moscow Open-2017» will take place in the Russian State Social University. It is expected that this year about 2000 persons from more than 35 countries of the world will participate in the Cup.

Continuing the tradition of supporting chess, a Fund Legacy Square Capital became the General partner of the «Moscow Open-2017». The Head of Fund Vladimir Palikhata noted that chess is now becoming more and more popular: just one game of Sergey Karjakin at the World Cup was watched by millions of people around the world. Support for major chess events of the capital, organized by the Chess Federation of Moscow, Russian State Social University and the Directorate of Sports and Entertainment Events of the Department of Sport and Tourism of the City of Moscow is an important step on the part of the Fund in supporting of chess movement and strengthening the role of Moscow as one of the chess centers of the world.

The upcoming Cup will be the thirteenth. And over the years the «Moscow Open» has shown itself not only as a major chess tournament, but also as an international platform for exchange of experience and opinions annually. This year’s feature of the tournament will be the international scientific-practical conference «Chess in the system of education». Also there will be a rapid chess tournament among blind and visually impaired.

It is important to note that the businessman Vladimir Palikhata, head of the Found Legacy Square Capital, was elected President of Moscow Chess Federation in April 2012.

Thanks to the Chess Federation of Moscow, the city has more than 500 different official events, both for professionals and for chess fans of all ages, regardless of the level of their games a year.

With the support of the government of Moscow, the Federation has successfully implemented the program «Chess in schools». The program is aimed at introducing chess in schools as one of the subjects along with literature and physics. Since this year chess will be taught in 250 out of 750 schools of Moscow. This is an extremely important process for the formation of healthy, intelligent generation of Russians.

Note that the Fund LEGACY SQUARE CAPITAL for the first time became a partner of major chess events in 2014 – it supported the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships in Berlin, and in 2016 it was the national partner of Sergey Karjakin at the World Cup.
