Mikhail Gutseriev will try stress

The main owner of Safmar, Industrial and Finance Group (IFG) Mikhail Gutseriev will invest into the fund specialized in investments into «stress assets» managed by the company of Vladimir Palikhata. Earlier, Mr. Palikhata became the investor of Safmar Financial Investments holding of Gutsiriev family, having invested a bit less than 3 bln.rubles. Both entrepreneurs have similar views on crises, says Mr. Gutseriev.

One of the main beneficiaries and a co-Chairman of Safmar, IFG, Mikhail Gutseriev will become one of the investors of private equity fund LSC Value Recovery II, managed by Legacy Square Capital of Vladimir Palikhata, — informs the IFG. The start-up fund is specialized in investments into «stress assets» — companies being in a difficult situation that, in the investors’ opinion, can be turned into a more expensive asset with the help of additional financing and efficient management. «The strategy assumes medium-term investments (up to five years)», — says Safmar’s press release.

The communication also cites the words of Mr. Gutseriev: «Me and Vladimir Palikhata have a similar view on crises: we see not only problems, but also opportunities there».

According to the entrepreneur, IFG also has projects that will turn out to be efficient after having been purchased by IFG. «That’s why I understand the concept of the „stress assets fund“, and share it to a great extent», — this is how Mr. Gutseriev explains his decision to invest into LSC Value Recovery II.

Earlier, it was informed by Vedomosti that Mr. Palikhata became one of the investors of Safmar Financial Investments (SFI) holding last summer, as part of the sale of 15% of shares by the structures of Mikhail Gutseriev (see «Ъ-Online» dated August 1, 2018). He bought about 4% of the holding for a bit less than 3 bln. rubles. It was informed to «Ъ» that the shares of the holding can be bought by businessmen that are close to Mikhail Gutseriev. The buyers of SFI were «big Russian businessmen» «sharing the view of the group with regard to further strategic development of the company», said a representative of Safmar (see «Ъ» dated August 3, 2018).
